Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holder (SCPLH)
Course Overview
The Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH) is a mandatory qualification for individuals applying for a personal licence to sell or authorize the sale of alcohol in Scotland. This comprehensive course provides an in-depth understanding of the key aspects of licensing law and the responsibilities associated with holding a personal licence. It is designed to ensure that licence holders have the knowledge required to manage licensed premises responsibly and legally.
The course takes about 6 hours of class room learning. You’ll also get a course handbook. After finishing the course, you’ll take an exam. The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and lasts 60 minutes. You need to score at least 28 out of 40 to pass. If you get 27 or below, you can take the exam again.

The learners must be 18 year old
Course Structure & Content
Our Personal Licence courses consist of two parts:
Part 1: Theoretical knowledge – classroom based
Part 2: Multiple choice examination – classroom based
Assessments & Examinations
To pass the SCPLH course you will have to sit one multiple choice question e-assessment or paper based exam.
For multiple choice exam– you will be expected to answer 40 multiple choice questions with a duration of 1 hour and a pass mark of 28.
Examination Resits
We have a policy of 1 resit. Instant exam results or available with in 7 to 14 working days depend upon assessment method (e-assessment or paper based assessment).

Please Note – Scottish law state that personal licence holders must undertake refresher training within five years of getting their license, or they will have their licence revoked.
